I always have a jar of homemade granola in the pantry. I love almond butter granola, chocolate granola, lemon blueberry granola, and peanut butter granola.

We all know that the granola clusters are the best part of granola so I made Chocolate Chip Cookie Granola Clusters and they are DELICIOUS….almost too good, ha!

I LOVE chocolate chip cookies, so you know I am very into a granola that tastes like the classic cookies. The recipe makes BIG granola clusters that are crunchy, sweet, a little salty, and full of chocolate flavor.

I keep the recipe on the healthy side by using wholesome ingredients that I always have on hand. The granola clusters are sweetened with coconut sugar, pure maple syrup, and chocolate chips. If you don’t want to use any refined sugars, you can use Hu baking chips. They are really great!

The granola clusters make a great breakfast, snack, or dessert. They are great with yogurt, milk, smoothie bowls, ice cream, or eaten by the handful.

Ingredients

  • Oats– use old fashioned oats, not quick oats. If you need the recipe to be gluten-free, make sure you use gluten-free oats.
  • Nuts– chopped almonds and pecans.
  • Pepitas– pepitas are pumpkin seeds.
  • Flaxseed meal
  • Coconut sugar– I like to use coconut sugar, but brown sugar works well too.
  • Cinnamon
  • Sea salt
  • Coconut oil– melted and slightly cooled.
  • Pure maple syrup
  • Vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips– I prefer dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips, but milk will work too.

How to Make Granola Clusters

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large-rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the oats, almonds, pecans, pepitas, flaxseed, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and sea salt.
  • Add the melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir until mixture is well combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread in an even layer.
  • Use a spatula or the bottom of a measuring cup to press the granola down in an even layer. You want the granola to be pressed together so it will form clusters after cooling.
  • Bake for 23 to 28 minutes or until granola is slightly golden brown. DO NOT STIR, but make sure you rotate the pan halfway through the baking time.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and let the granola cool completely on the pan without stirring. Do not touch it while it cools.
  • Once it is cool, you can break the granola into clusters and enjoy!

Serving Suggestions

Here are a few of my favorite ways to serve the granola clusters.

  • Over yogurt with fresh fruit
  • On top of smoothies or smoothie bowls
  • Sprinkled on a bowl of ice cream
  • With your choice of milk
  • By the handful…once you start, it’s hard to stop!

How to Store

Store the granola clusters in a jar or airtight container for up to one month on the counter. You can also freeze the granola clusters in a freezer bag or container for up to 3 months.
